  • WHERE: DigiFest South - Bossier Civic Center, 620 Benton Rd, Bossier City, LA 71111

Developers, artists, musicians and other digital creatives will gather at DigiFest South to participate in Northwest Louisiana’s first Game Jam, September 7-9, 2012. During the 44-hour session, teams will create video games from scratch utilizing computers and software donated by Dell Computers. In addition, participants can attend talks on game design, tutorials on Unity3D and collaborate with one another to create original video games.

Prior experience creating video games is not necessary. “It's not meant to be terribly competitive. I want people to have a good time and learn from each other,” says Nolan Baker, software developer at Moonbot Studios and Game Jam organizer.

Completed games are due at 3PM on Sunday, September 9th, after which, DigiFest South attendees can try out each game. The games will be evaluated by judges including Dr. Mark Goadrich (Computational Mathematics Chair at Centenary College of LA), Keith Hanson (Co-founder of Twin Engine Labs), and Adam Volker (Creative Director at Moonbot Interactive). At 5PM, the judges’ favorites will be awarded 3D-printed trophies provided by LSUS Animation and Visual Effects Program and Moonbot Studios.
