Moonbot-Designed Reading Area Opens at Learning Express

On February 16, 2013, Learning Express will unveil a new kid-friendly reading area, designed by Academy Award®-winning Moonbot Studios. To celebrate, the store will host a reading of William Joyce’s The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore by Mike Martindale, the voice of the “Morris Lessmore” audio book and app. The unveiling and reading will begin at 10:00 AM.

Learning Express is a new toy store located at 5733 Youree Drive specializing in educational and developmental toys. The store also carries children’s books including Joyce’s Guardians of Childhood book series and other Joyce favorites.

"Moonbot’s best ideas are sparked during unbridled imaginative play: escaping into another world through books or sketching ideas with friends. This is exactly what we hoped kids would experience in Learning Express," said Brandon Oldenburg, creative partner at Moonbot Studios and art director of the project.

The site-specific reading area was created in partnership with LA House of Props, a movie prop and functional art design company. The multi-level area is part treehouse, part rocketship and includes kid-sized tunnels; a lookout tower, cozy reading nooks and wall paintings by Moonbot artists.
